"Radio III / ᎦᏬᏂᏍᎩ ᏦᎢ" is an Indigenous futuristic concert, a beautiful and uncomfortable dance performance, and a perverse triangle of shifting power that seeks to be unfaithful to both minimalism and postmodern dance’s so-called “neutrality.” This choreography haunts the recognizable toolbox of abstraction, form, repetition and pattern by striving to make visible that which has been kept invisible and illegible in colonial systems of aesthetics.
Artist / Company Bio
Hanako Hoshimi-Caines is an experimental dance artist, dramaturge and organizer whose works play within the expanded fields of choreography, video, sculpture, musicals and haiku. Zoë Poluch’s artistic practice, which puts into motion different mediums and takes shape in different rooms, is based on a long term and practice-based interest in the politics and poetics of moving and sensing. Elisa Harkins is a Cherokee/Muscogee artist and composer whose work is concerned with translation, language preservation and Indigenous musicology. She is the first person to sing a contemporary song in the Cherokee language. "Radio III / ᎦᏬᏂᏍᎩ ᏦᎢ" is their first collaboration.
