Personality disorders and mental disorders have become commonplace, and the internet is flooded with people sharing their personal experiences. These testimonies, loosely combined with clips from reality TV and the occasional soap opera, is the starting point for Do Not Stand Too Close. Through sustained choreography, magnificent music from Metteson/Junker, and a spoken language that holds nothing back, choreographer Hege Haagenrud will illuminate the existential need to reflect ourselves in the eyes of others.
Artist / Company Bio
Hege Haagenrud works in the borderland between dance and theatre. She often uses text and film as important interactive elements, in close collaboration with musicians and composers. She has made more than twenty choreographies transforming the classic storytelling tradition so that the language conveys a story about and to people of today. Since 2002, Haagenrud has choreographed for her own company as well as for the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Nagelhus Schia Productions, Oper am Rhein, and several others.
