OVERSTATEMENT/OVERSTEINUNN: Expressions of Expectations is an on-going solo project by Icelandic choreographer Steinunn Ketilsdóttir. In the work she expresses and exposes the expectations of the performance and the performer through a series of articulated and embodied statements. The project emerged from her struggle to explain her artistic works and visions in academic and institutional settings. Faced with the challenge she decided to fulfil expectations, her own and others, by over-explaining and over-expressing herself in an attempt to convey her multiplicity. Steinunn has many expectations of what this project will be or not be. What it might be or might not be. What it should be and what it should not be. Since the initiation of the project she has made sixteen public statements, Statement #1 thru #16, and will continue to make statements until it is enough.
