Landscapes Of IA hike through the landscapes of self-awareness, weaved together by three solos: what is real and what is fake?

What is real? What is fake? Is there still something that can really be called personal? Björn Säfsten’s performance Landscapes of I saunters along the boundary between personal and fictional, genuine, real and counterfeit. The Swedish choreographer examines our wish to permanently control our exterior perception and plays with the insecurity of an apparently fixed reality. With rhythm and musicality, exactness of detail and humour he weaves solos by three performers into one another, hiking through the landscape of our self-awareness – or lack of it.
In the work and practice of choreographer Björn Säfsten the body and the mind and its connected actions are scrutinized, dissected and exposed. The focus is on creating ‘another body’, another notion of human physicality, bringing images to life that visually problematize our notion of the human nature. The physical practice exposes images that occur from a certain physical action, in a chance method. The work thus takes visual turns and bends, often moulding itself whilst being performed, establishing itself anew each time for each audience encounter. Björn Säfsten runs Säfsten Produktion from Stockholm, Sweden.
