EntitledThe enduring force of expectations shapes one's identity
Saturday December 15th
10:00 – 11:30
Bíó Paradís, Hverfisgata 54
All too often, the expression of individual identity is discouraged, misinterpreted or judged as non-conformational. With his new solo Entitled, choreographer Stian Danielsen invites us into a black cave, in which his body exposes its own diversity – proposing a humanitarian statement against predominant exclusions. Entitled will be a multi-layered and sensual spectacle of the incomprehensible, in which his body and his voice interweave into vibrations, from micro-movements to wide oscillations. It will be a work, in which codified shapes of his body, his gender and the space become increasingly ambiguous, and dissolve into a corporeal experience of being first and foremost human.
Stian Danielsen is a choreographer and dancer educated at the Faculty of Performing Art at The Norwegian National Academy of the Arts. His direction consists of the seemingly spontaneous, where a sense of humor plays an important role in both structure and timing. With Entitled Stian continues to investigate relentless on stage. As a performer he is constantly forced to shift and move – as there is no shade in the spotlight.
Stian’s work has been in Norway, France, Denmark, Sweden and Italy including a commission for the Venice Biennale staging a group of youth.
