City HorsesFrustrated with the ways of the world, women transform into horses and enter the city
Thursday December 13th
10:00 – 12:00
Bíó Paradís, Hverfisgata 54
In our cities proud kings on bronze horses quietly stare above our heads. Their presence manifesting a history of men and war, daily passed on to the next generation. Where are the women and their stories? This was the starting point for City Horses – a performance about power, existence and the female body in the public space. Since its premiere it has toured all over Sweden and received rave reviews and responses from audiences, media and press. A gallop through city streets and squares, a living monument constant in motion – celebrating female courage and power of all ages.
The duo Byström Källblad makes work for stage, gallery and the public space. Choreographer Anna Källblad and artist Helena Byström share a desire to tell stories from exchanges with specific places and its people, for example a sports arena, a nuclear power plant and an abandoned dance palace. Byström is a visual artist from the north, working mainly with film and sculpture. Källblad is a choreographer from the south, with ten years in Los Angeles and a prior career as a dancer with Sweden’s most prominent choreographers. BK collaborates with Dansens hus, Stockholm konst and the Modern Museum in Stockholm.
