ONE MONTH TILL ICE HOTTERS DESCEND ON REYKJAVÍK

The Reykjavík team eagerly awaits the arrival of the international dance community. With one month to go we still have various tasks to finish but feel sure we will. There is an Icelandic saying “Þetta reddast!” which literally means “It will solved itself!”

470 GUESTS AND ARTISTS COMING

470 international guests and artists have registered for ICE HOT Reykjavík. Registration will stay open for presenters and will not close until we have reached the 500-delegate ceiling. We still have tickets available for day-time performances, seminars and workshops but a few evening performances are sold out. If you are a presenter and want to come, we encourage to register now here!

39 PRODUCTIONS AND PRESENTATIONS IN 4 DAYS

The Reykjavík Platform will showcase 39 Nordic dance productions and presentations in 4 days. 20 full length performances shown in venues and site-specific locations in various parts of the capital area and 19 presentations in a pitch session entitled MORE, MORE, MORE. Artists presenting “New Artistic Ideas” will, for the first time, be part of the program. More info here.

All the Nordic artists of ICE HOT Reykjavík have a strong artistic voice which stands out in the crowd. A diverse, high quality program with works for and with children and teenagers, site specific work for indoor and outdoor spaces and a wide range of stage dance which speaks to body mind and soul. The program shows a youngish artistry; full of opinion, spirit, feminism and grit. The 39 artists were chosen out of a record number of 355 Nordic artists who applied to show their work in Reykjavík.

HOT TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION IN REYKJAVÍK

ICE HOT Reykjavík offers 17 different seminars and workshops during the three main days, 13th – 15th. All seminars were chosen through an open call. You can attend seminars on innovative social practices and how dance can enrich people lives, work as jump-starter for better health and a wonderful means for inclusion. You can experience different artists‘sharing practices. You can join sharing sessions with individual experts and organizations we think are relevant to our sector. And from a totally different world. You can learn about the work of a few individuals in Greenland who are building up a contemporary dance community. They are Iceland ´s next door neighbour and we hardly know anything about their work – let alone the rest of the world.

GREENLAND: BUILDING A NATION AND A DANCE COMMUNITY
GREENLAND: BUILDING A NATION AND A DANCE COMMUNITY

Last but not least, we draw your attention to the fact that ICE HOT Reykjavík hosts the Springback Magazine Assembly, the wonderful initiative of John Ashford and the Aerowaves network, created last year. Take a look!

We are expecting a gang of Springback’s young critics to Reykjavík, who with their mentors, take part in our programme, see performance and host an exciting live televised seminar on Saturday 15th. ICE HOT Reykjavík performances will be debated and digested with the artists and writers joining on theTV set.

SPRINGBACK MAGAZINE LIVE
Over all the ICE HOT team feels the seminar programme is relevant and to the point. We expect lively debates, sharings and good, fruitful conversations. Ice Hot Seminars.
